Role purpose
At Babcock we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor at our Devonport Royal Dockyard site. You’ll support the delivery of a Major Infrastructure construction portfolio, driving commercial excellence across civil construction projects, ensuring robust contract administration and cost management.
Responsibilities
* Safeguard Babcock’s commercial interests by reviewing contracts, terms and conditions, and supporting subcontract negotiations.
* Support pre-tender estimates, cost planning, and modelling of design and implementation options.
* Monitor project costs and review subcontractor claims.
* Ensure contract administration aligns with NEC4 requirements and corporate governance.
* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support project delivery.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week with hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience
* Broad knowledge of building and construction practices.
* Experience with MOD contracts (advantageous).
* Familiarity with NEC4 contract frameworks (desirable).
* Understanding of project management principles.
* Specialism in a relevant field such as Civils, Building, Mechanical or Electrical.
Qualifications
* Degree, HNC or HND in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
* MCIOB, MRICS or similar professional membership (highly desirable or working towards chartership).
Security clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance for this role. This role may be affected by national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions depending on eligibility by place of birth, nationality, citizenship and residency.
