Private Client Services – Personal Tax – Director
Our personal tax specialists within EY Private Tax work with a wide range of individuals including chief executives, entrepreneurs, private equity and hedge fund principals, family offices and celebrities to plan and report their personal tax affairs. This includes tax return preparation, optimising their wealth structuring from a global tax perspective, estate and succession planning and inheritance tax. Our client base is a mix of UK and non-UK domiciled/resident individuals.
The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and ambitious individual to join EY’s specialist team based in Leeds. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to work with our excellent existing clients, providing a great opportunity to build and expand their network and be instrumental in winning new business.
We are currently looking to expand our team and are keen to speak with existing Tax Directors or experienced Senior Tax Managers, who have a strong brand in the local market, a proven track record of building relationships with internal and external stakeholders and a passion for delivering exceptional client service. We are looking for the right individual to join our team and help contribute to our growth ambition at this exciting time.
Your key responsibilities
1. Pursuit of business development opportunities identified by yourself and your network, other members of the EY Private Tax team or other service lines at EY (, through audit, corporate finance or wider tax relationships)
2. Management of the successful delivery of technically complex and demanding consulting projects for clients, ensuring technical excellence and a practical / business driven approach is taken
3. Provision of development support to junior members of the team through effective supervision, coaching and mentoring
4. Contribution to people initiatives, including retaining and training our team
5. Significant role in the management of the team both in terms of strategy and operations and also through managing junior staff development and assignments

7. Strong tax technical skills
8. Strong client relationship management skills with ability to develop quality outputs to clients
9. Negotiation skills, able to sustain opinion and handle challenges
10. Business development skills, able to identify and convert opportunities to sell work
11. Effective time management, ability to remain calm when under pressure to meet deadlines
12. Excellent communicator in a range of situations both written and oral
13. Good knowledge of advising a range of company owners including AIM listed, PE backed, Family Owned and OMB.
To qualify for the role you must have
14. ACA / CA / Tax Inspectors with full Technical Training course / Law qualification / Tax specialist qualification / or breadth of knowledge equivalent to a Tax specialist qualification
15. Strong tax technical skills
16. Business development skills, able to identify and convert opportunities to sell work
17. Experience of coaching and developing more junior staff
Ideally you’ll also have
18. Project management skills, plan and prioritize work, meet deadlines, monitor own budget
19. Ability to solve problems creatively and pragmatically
