The International Rates team is part of Vanguard’s Global Rates Active Fixed Income franchise. The team manages global aggregate, government, and FX strategies. Based in London, the desk invests in global opportunities across fixed income, derivatives, and currencies.
As the team expands, we seek a driven individual with keen interest in global markets and current geopolitical developments. The role is suitable for someone with a strong interest in fixed income public markets, demonstrated financial acumen, and skills.
The Junior Fixed Income Trader supports daily desk operations and has the opportunity to participate in the investment process. Initially, the focus will be on becoming an execution expert across multiple fixed income asset classes, evolving into involvement in daily investment decisions.

Core Responsibilities
* Collect and distribute market information for the portfolio manager, using various tools and databases. Support trading activities and improve negotiation skills. Execute trades across global markets and assess their impact on portfolios.
* Respond to inquiries on the trading desk related to fixed income trading information and pricing. Act as liaison with bond vendors.
* Assist with research under senior traders' guidance. Support the development of less experienced traders.
* Reconcile portfolios, document activities, and complete administrative tasks related to cash logs and cash positions.
* Negotiate and execute trades to achieve lower transaction costs. Generate risk management reports and analyze trends.
* Research portfolio issues, perform market analysis, and generate reports for senior staff.
* Respond to trading inquiries, leverage data analysis for process improvements.
* Track sector spreads, understand relative value, and develop relationships with sector analysts. Gather detailed trading activity data.
* Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
* Undergraduate degree.
* Working towards CFA is preferred.
* Programming skills in VBA, Python, and Tableau are preferred.
