Senior Workshop Technician (Electronics)
We are looking for a Senior Workshop Technician with a strong electronics background to join our collaborative, multidisciplinary Workshop Facility, supporting research and teaching primarily across the sciences, though we welcome projects from across the University and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintenance, repair and modification of the electronic components of laboratory instruments.
* Design, build and prototype bespoke scientific equipment.
* Diagnose and troubleshoot faults at component level.
* Work closely with researchers, engineers and other technicians to solve practical problems and keep critical equipment running smoothly.
Qualifications and Experience
* Strong practical experience in electronics, gained through professional roles or personal projects.
* Proficiency in soldering, PCB work and circuit‑level repairs.
* Ability to diagnose problems, create and build innovative solutions, and adapt to evolving technology.
* Confidence working with off‑the‑shelf and bespoke instruments, with commitment to safety and good workshop practice.
* Formal qualifications are welcome but not essential if significant relevant experience can be demonstrated.
