About us

Baseimmune is a discovery stage biotechnology start-up focused on revolutionising therapies through advanced computational antigen design. Our mission is to harness the fields of data science, machine learning and computational biology within a multi-disciplinary team to redefine therapies for complex disease.

Position Overview

We're seeking a Computational Biologist with expertise in immunology—ideally T-cell immunology—to assist in the development and operation of our antigen-discovery pipeline. You'll join our multidisciplinary team to deliver cutting-edge analyses that shape the design of novel active immunotherapies. The role combines rigorous immunological thinking with excellent data analysis and exploratory skills to build and run robust computational investigations that underpin our antigen design platforms.

This role offers an exceptional opportunity for individuals eager to grow and excel in the development of active immunotherapies. You will play a pivotal role in advancing our science while contributing to the ambitious goals of a fast-moving, innovative company like Baseimmune.

Key Responsibilities

* Design, maintain, and operate computational workflows for antigen target discovery and prioritisation.
* Analyse multi-omics, immunological and sequence datasets (e.g., single-cell, repertoire/epitope, transcriptomics, proteomics) to generate actionable insights.
* Partner with experimental scientists to plan studies, define success metrics, and iterate on findings.
* Build robust, reproducible code and data pipelines; document methods and results.
* Communicate results clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

Qualifications

* PhD in Computational Biology, Immunology, Bioinformatics, or related field
or
3+ years of industry experience in computational immunology/vaccine discovery.
* Deep understanding of immunology—T-cell biology strongly preferred (antigen processing and presentation, HLA restriction, TCR recognition).
* Knowledge of epitope prediction and antigen prioritisation (e.g., HLA typing/binding prediction, immunogenicity scoring).
* Strong programming skills in Python for data analysis, visualisation, and pipeline automation.
* Track record building reproducible workflows (e.g. Git) and writing clear, well-documented code.
* Solid grounding in
statistics
for hypothesis testing.
* Ability to collaborate closely with experimental scientists to plan studies, define success metrics, and iterate quickly.
* Clear scientific communication—able to present complex analyses to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Soft Skills

* Self-motivated and able to work effectively as part of a cross-functional team but also able to execute tasks independently when needed.
* Able to ensure reproducible and transferable work through appropriate procedures and documentation.
* Inclusive, collaborative, and thrives in a team environment with an agile approach to working.
* Strong communication skills with the confidence and judgement to challenge appropriately.
* Able to proactively apply knowledge, problem-solving skills and creative thinking to drive project completion.
* A can-do attitude and excellent attention to detail.
* Excellent organisation and record-keeping skills.

Desired Qualifications and Skills

* Proficiency analysing expression datasets (e.g. scRNA-seq) and integrating multi-omics to generate mechanistic insights.
* Experience with immune-repertoire (TCR/BCR) analysis.
* Experience of using ML for bioinformatics analyses

What we Offer

* Competitive starting salary
* Remote working with a requirement to attend head office in London minimum x4 per year (expenses covered)
* Private health insurance
* Opportunities for career growth and professional development
* 26 days holiday leave + bank holidays
* Enhanced sick pay
* Family friendly policies, including enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption leave
* Pension plan
