If the answer is yes, and you are shortlisted, you will receive an invitation to attend our next Healthcare Assistant assessment day at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.

You have the opportunity to join our fantastic and friendly Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust (BHT) family as a healthcare support worker – no previous experience needed.

These are great opportunities for candidates who are looking to step into healthcare for the first time, or for those who are already in healthcare and want to work for an NHS Trust.Healthcare Support Workers play a crucial role in all aspects of care delivery for our patients.

Main duties of the job

You will be joining a team of dedicated professionals who you will learn from on the job, we provide training to ensure you have the skills for the role and offer development opportunities to realise your career potential. You will be enrolled onto a healthcare support worker induction programme held each month, ensuring you feel supported as you take the first steps into your new career.

Next Steps: If shortlisted, you will receive an invitation to attend an interview.

Assessment: You will be required to undertake an assessment, that should take approx 15 minutes.

Person specification

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS

Essential criteria

11. Level 2 or Level 3 (NVQ) in health and Social Care or equivalent relevant experience
12. Willing to work towards Level 2 functional skills (Math & English
13. Care Certificate/working towards

EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria

14. Experience of working with people, ideally in a front-line customer service role.

Desirable criteria

15. Experience of providing person centred care.

SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE

Essential criteria

16. An understanding of the importance of patient confidentially and privacy.
17. Recognise how patients and colleagues need to be treated with dignity and respect and can demonstrate these behaviours in their daily work.
18. Good verbal and written English communication skills.
19. The ability to respond with kindness and humanity to patients.
20. A flexible and adaptable approach with the aptitude to work in a busy hospital healthcare setting.
21. Basic knowledge of health and safety with an awareness of the importance of following Trust policies and procedures.

SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES

22. Ability to work agreed shift patterns designed to meet service needs.
23. Can demonstrate self-motivation and ability to motivate others

Desirable criteria

24. Demonstrates some insight into the fundamentals and complexity of care and care delivery

PPE requirements: Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust requires all colleagues to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with our infection prevention and control procedures.

COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations remain the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and of course our patients from the viruses when working in our healthcare settings. We encourage our staff to be vaccinated when recommended.

Travel expenses: It is Trust policy that travel expenses for interviews will not be reimbursed.

Smoking: All Trust sites are NO SMOKING. Smoking in all areas of the buildings and premises is prohibited.
