SALARY: £31998.50 per annum HOURS: 39 per week, Monday - Friday LOCATION: Avonmouth, Bristol 3.5t Delivery Driver – Internal Only Purpose of the role: To drive container vehicles safely, load, transport and unload waste and recycling materials according to agreed customer requirements, Bristol Waste Company procedures and all external legal requirements. Key Responsibilities: To drive/operate a 3.5T van, carry out daily vehicle checks to ensure the vehicle is safe to operate, reporting all defects in line with Bristol Waste Company (BWC) policies and procedures and ensure the condition of the vehicle is cleaned and maintained both inside and out. Responsible to ensure route completion and tasks are completed to Bristol Waste Company’s, required standards Loading boxes and bins onto the vehicle, including preparing loads the afternoon before delivery. Unloading damage boxes and bins to the designated locations in accordance with Bristol Waste Company’s policy, procedures, training and legal requirements, complying with all health and safety requirements. To use mobile IT equipment and to complete daily paperwork as appropriate Undertake any training / instruction required to carry out these duties and or deemed necessary to fulfil the role Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of vehicles and equipment to a high standard, including daily vehicle checks on any vehicle driven To deal with colleagues, customers and other non – Bristol Waste Company personnel in a polite, responsible and professional manner To remain in contact with Mobilisation Manger/Resource Planner and office staff and be responsive to operational needs and to aid Commercial growth through close relationships with sales staff and reporting back any opportunities for growth To work flexibly between location, including Avonmouth and Albert Road Depot, to provide operational cover across the services of Commercial, Garden Waste, Refuse and Recycling and to carry out all other tasks deemed reasonable To comply with all Bristol Waste Company reporting procedures Essential Requirements for the Role: UK Driving licence which the post holder must present when requested, the post holder must report any issues that affect driving or driving hours to the Supervisor The ability to work independently and to use own initiative The ability to work well within a small team The ability to use IT systems Demonstrable ability to lead a team Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to lead and motivate the team and liaise effectively with the public and colleagues Sound literacy skills in order to follow route maps and to comply with driving and health and safety responsibilities Experience or ability to undertake regular vehicle checks including oil, water and battery levels Experience or ability to demonstrate suitability for physical work involving pushing/pulling waste bins and lifting recycling boxes up to 25kg The ability to understand and complete daily defect sheets Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills Demonstrable flexible approach to work assignments Full Job Description can be provided upon request.
