Are you a dynamic leader ready to drive lasting change across our Trust? We’re looking for a strategic thinker and operational expert to play a key leadership role in the design and delivery of our £110m Efficiency & Productivity Programme, reducing waste at scale ensuring we use our resource in the best way possible for patient care.

Main duties of the job

In this influential senior post, you’ll lead a team of around 18, collaborating with Executives, clinical and corporate leaders to scope, plan, and track impactful cost improvement and productivity projects. You’ll champion best practice methodologies, support divisional delivery, and embed a culture of continuous improvement across the Trust.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Key to this role is your ability to interpret complex data, provide clear governance, lead on the QIA process and manage benefits realisation—ensuring each scheme delivers measurable value. You’ll need exceptional programme management skills, strong financial acumen, and the confidence to challenge constructively at all levels. Experience in NHS operations or clinical settings, alongside formal project management training, is highly desirable.

Person specification

Qualifications

* Educated to masters level in relevant discipline or equivalent experience
* Accredited project management qualification, such as Prince II or equivalent

Experience

* Knowledge of health service management, including change management
* Practical experience of implementing medium to large scale improvement projects, including definition, design, delivery and evaluation
* Project management expertise including cost, quality and risk management
* Budget responsibilities and management
* Previous extensive experience in either operational or clinical acute hospital settings
* Knowledge of, or training in, lean improvement methodologies
* Evidence of delivering service re-design and new models of care

Skills

* Strong analytic skills and knowledge of how to use data appropriately and correctly.
* Analysis of performance data, capacity and demand data, assessment of projects, identification of areas for collaborative working /expert analysis of performance/service redesign
* Written and verbal presentation skills in relation to complex information
* Advanced IT skills in particular PowerPoint and Excel
* Able to analyse & interrogate complex data
* Use of data in projects that has enabled change
* To be able to review evidence to generate options and take autonomous decisions to facilitate resolution in relation to project scoping and delivery
* Experience of MS Project or equivalent project management software
