Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: Newton Abbot
Contract: Permanent
Salary: £65,000–£70,000
We’re working with a specialist marine contractor delivering complex marine and coastal infrastructure projects. They are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to strengthen their Commercial team.
This is a senior-level position with responsibility for the commercial, financial, and contractual performance of multiple high-value projects. You’ll play a key role in cost control, procurement strategy, risk management, and stakeholder engagement, while also mentoring junior surveyors and contributing to wider commercial strategy.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead commercial management across multiple marine infrastructure projects
2. Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, CVRs, and cash flow
3. Oversee contract administration, variations, claims, and final accounts
4. Identify commercial risks and opportunities, driving value engineering and cost efficiencies
5. Manage procurement strategies and negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers
6. Provide P&L reporting and financial performance updates to senior leadership
7. Support and mentor junior Quantity Surveyors
8. Build strong working relationships with clients, project teams, and supply chain partners
9. Ensure compliance with contractual, financial, and HSE requirements
About You
10. Proven experience in a Senior Quantity Surveyor role
11. Strong background in marine infrastructure, civil engineering, or heavy construction
12. Excellent knowledge of contract administration and commercial risk management
13. Confident managing high-value contracts and complex negotiations
14. Strong leadership and mentoring capability
15. Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (professional accreditation desirable)
16. Comfortable travelling to sites as required
