We are a dynamic local authority providing essential services to the people of Gloucester. Our main office is based in the Eastgate Centre on Eastgate Street, a modern, accessible, open‑plan space with a living green wall and flexible working arrangements to support a great work‑life balance.


About the Role

As Information Governance Officer you will support the Council and the Data Protection Officer to ensure compliance with GDPR and all relevant privacy legislation. This hybrid role requires regular attendance at the office for meetings and support work.


Responsibilities

* Maintain and develop the Information Governance Framework.
* Oversee and coordinate responses to Subject Access Requests (SARs) and Freedom of Information (FOI) requests.
* Act as the investigating officer for data protection breaches.
* Conduct risk assessments and manage information governance risks.
* Deliver expert advice on data protection, records management and best practice.
* reviews of data governance processes for high‑risk projects.
* Deliver training to colleagues to ensure robust and effective data protection measures.


Qualifications

* Experience of GDPR compliance work and ability to conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).
* Strong understanding of data protection principles.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
* Strong organisational skills and a customer‑focused approach.
