* Hours: Full and Part Time to cover 24/7
* Working arrangement: In pairs during the day and single‑handed care overnight
* Location: Whitburn, South Tyneside
* Hourly rate: from age‑related national minimum wage to £13.43 per hour
* Holiday entitlement: 5.6 weeks per year

Role Overview
This role supports a 35‑year‑old person living independently who has a brain injury. The personal assistant will work within a team to enable the service user to achieve a full and active social life and to promote independence. 24‑hour continued support, including recovery, activities, and appointments, will be delivered on a rota system.
Responsibilities
* Provide personal assistance and care around the clock, with an emphasis on a slow introduction to overnight shifts
* Support the service user in daily living activities and attend appointments
* Coordinate care with the team and manage schedule changes in advance
* Use a mobility car to transport the service user when required
Qualifications & Requirements
* Must be female, in accordance with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014 and Equality Act 2010 schedule 9 paragraphs 1‑4
* Must hold a valid driving licence to operate a mobility car
* Must have permission to work in the U.K. at the start of employment
* Full training will be provided
Employment Details
The post is not employed through South Tyneside Council but directly by the individual service user. The candidate must be able to start as soon as a suitable appointment is made.
