Put your marine paint or sandblasting skills to work in a practical, relationship-focused sales role
30th June, 2025
At Scitex, we’re working with a respected and long-standing client to help them find a practical, hands-on Sales Representative to support and grow their Commercial Marine business across the South Island.
This role is perfect for someone from a marine coatings, sandblasting, or industrial painting background who enjoys talking to others and can troubleshoot technical paint or surface prep issues in the field. Whether you're an applicator or foreman looking to move off the tools — or someone already doing customer-facing work in the marine space — this could be your next step.
Based in Nelson or Christchurch, you’ll visit shipyards, boat builders, and commercial marine clients across the South Island — with regular travel in the South Island and occasional visits to the North Island. Your main job will be to support applicators and customers using the company’s well-known paint and coating systems — helping them get the right product, use it properly, and resolve any technical issues as they come up.
In this role, you’ll:
* Visit marine clients and contractors to provide support and product advice
* Help troubleshoot issues like adhesion, prep, or application problems
* Be the go-to person for technical queries — backed by a national support team
* Build long-term customer relationships and grow repeat business

* Has experience with marine or industrial coatings (e.g., as a painter, blaster, or coatings applicator)
* Can confidently speak to tradies and customers about product use
* Has good people skills, a practical mindset, and a willingness to learn
* Holds a full NZ driver’s licence and is happy to travel for work
* Might be ready to move off the tools — or is already in a field-facing coatings role
This is a rare opportunity to step into a rewarding role with a solid brand that supports its team and genuinely values technical knowledge. You'll be supported with product training and a close-knit national crew that has your back when you need it.
