Research Fellow - Department of Nursing and Midwifery - 106115 - Grade 7
Department of Nursing and Midwifery, School of Health Sciences, College of Medicine and Health. Location: University of Birmingham, Edgbaston, Birmingham UK.
Part Time (30 hours per week). Fixed Term contract up to July 2027. Closing date: 11 September 2025. Full time starting salary is normally in the range £36,130 to £45,413 with potential progression once in post to £48,149. Grade: 7.
The role supports NIHR funded research through data collection and analysis, contributing to knowledge generation, and providing research assistance to projects and research teams in collaboration with the wider research team and the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society. This project will work closely with people from South Asian backgrounds i.e. Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu speaking.

Responsibilities
* Work within specified research grants and projects and contribute to writing papers and final reports.
* Operate within the area of specialism (Rheumatology).
* Collect data at a clinical level across NHS settings within West Midlands.
* With the help of a statistician, analyse and interpret research findings and disseminate not only within academia but also to the public and patient community.
* Collect research data using a variety of methods (quantitative and qualitative); work with NHS staff to collect data.
* Analyse data as directed and present research outputs at conferences, seminars and as posters.
* Deal with problems affecting achievement of research objectives and deadlines; coordinate with CRN networks to meet recruitment targets.
* Carry out administrative tasks related to the delivery of the research.
* Promote equality and values diversity; act as a role model and foster an inclusive working culture.
* Assist in writing papers for high impact journals and final reports to funders (NIHR and REC/HRA).
* Contribute to drafting bids for research funding and disseminate findings for publication and seminars.
* Supervise students on research-related work and provide guidance to PhD students where appropriate.
* Contribute to developing new models, techniques and methods; undertake related management/administration tasks.
* Contribute to Departmental/School research-related activities and administration; engage in enterprise, business development and/or public engagement activities where appropriate.
* Coordinate own work with others to avoid conflict or duplication of effort.
Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject area.
* Practical experience applying the relevant skills and techniques.
* Ability to analyse information and communicate effectively.
* Ability to access and organise resources successfully.
* Knowledge of the Equality Act 2010 protected characteristics and how to ensure fair treatment in day-to-day activity.
* Experience of working in hospitals.
* Ability to speak languages such as Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu as the project involves working with South Asian people.
* Ability to assess resource requirements and use resources effectively.
* Contribute to planning and organising the research programme or project; coordinate work with others to avoid duplication.
