About the Role
As a Technician you will work outdoors in a team, supporting essential maintenance to keep the railway running safely and smoothly for passengers and freight users. You will carry out maintenance, faulting and take part in deputising for the Team Leader.
Key Responsibilities
* Work on the nuts, bolts and cables of the electrification system to keep power flowing through the electrified rails safely and efficiently.
* Assist with faulting, maintenance and renewal techniques in the discipline that you are applying for.
* Lead the team when asked by the Team Leader and check the team has the right competencies to meet safety standards.
* Work shift patterns that include days, nights and weekends; be comfortable working in all weathers and outdoors.
Essential Criteria
* Experience arranging and implementing safe systems of work.
* Knowledge of discipline‑specific maintenance, inspection, faulting and renewal techniques.
* Strong communication skills, both in person and in writing.
* Willing and able to work shifts in all weathers.
* Meet the required benchmark for application screening questions.
Preferred Criteria
* Leadership – lead, motivate and direct a team for safe and efficient work delivery.
* Effective communicator – deliver clear instructions to the team and other colleagues.
* Technical skills – knowledge and experience of inspection, faulting, maintenance and renewal techniques.
* Safety – consistently role model safe behaviours and challenge unsafe situations.
* Problem solver – persistent in finding safe and effective solutions.
* Willingness to learn – continually develop skills and stay up to date with new standards.
* Relevant qualification – NVQ Level 1 or 2 linked to the discipline or equivalent experience.
