We are looking to recruit a Dietetic Assistant Practitioner to work within our Acute Adult Inpatient Team. It is a varied role which will involve working closely and supporting your dietetic colleagues, as well as various multidisciplinary teams, to support patients under older people's medicine, gastroenterology, neurology and stroke, respiratory, cardiology, oncology, surgery, and more! Main duties of the job
As a Dietetic Assistant Practitioner working within our Adult Acute Inpatient Team, you'll be working to assist the Dietitians to contribute to the provision of the highest standards of patient care. You will take responsibility for the dietetic/nutritional management of patients on your caseload, in accordance with agreed pathways for care and direct and indirect supervision from a qualified Dietitian. You will work with adult inpatients from a wide range of clinical specialties within the acute team, including medicine for the elderly, respiratory, oncology, gastroenterology, surgical and more. You will see patients requiring different levels of nutrition support including oral and enteral nutrition support.
The successful candidate will be highly organized and forward thinking and contribute to service development and quality improvement projects, as well as participation in research and audit. The candidate should be confident in delivering presentations and teaching sessions such as nutritional screening training to ward staff.

Job responsibilities
Clinical:
1. To manage an allocated workload efficiently and effectively with regard to clinical priorities and use of time, in accordance with agreed guidance/care pathways.
2. To gain valid informed consent prior to undertaking any clinical tasks. With support, to work within the legal framework with patients who lack the capacity to consent to treatment.
3. To manage, without direct supervision, own caseload of less complex patients triaged by the supervising dietitians. This will include running clinics and seeing patients in a variety of other settings, acute and community. The post holder will work in a specified clinical area with patients who have been delegated by registered dietitians. In accordance with agreed guidance/care pathways:
Carry out an initial assessment.
Implement and monitor/review a suitable nutritional treatment plan.
Refer on to dietitians if patient presents with problems outside the competence of the post holder.
Qualifications
* Evidence for Band 4 competencies in clinical practice
* Foundation Degree in Health Studies (or equivalent)
Experience
* Previous experience as a Health Care (Support) worker
* Previous experience of people with illness, injury or physical disability in a formal (work related) or information (home/social related) capacity
* Ability to communicate effectively
