The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking a proactive and customer-focused Sales Manager with a strong background in sales and a solid understanding of local government or public sector environments. The ideal candidate will have experience managing client relationships regionally, with the ability to develop and maintain long-term partnerships across diverse companies.
A background in technical sales, particularly within industries related to waste management, software solutions, or route optimization would be a distinct advantage.
The Role
The successful candidate will play a key role in expanding the client base by leveraging customer intelligence to address pain points and offer tailored solutions, including hardware upgrades and software products.
Collaboration with colleagues covering adjacent regions will provide strong support during the initial period, enabling the Account Manager to develop a deep understanding of the product range and customer needs.
The role also offers the opportunity to engage with the private contractor market, targeting larger, strategic accounts through networking and relationship-building. Performance will be measured on customer retention, growth within the assigned territory, and the ability to develop new business opportunities.
Ideal Qualifications / Experience
* Proven Sales Expertise: A strong track record in account management or sales, with experience in developing and maintaining long-term client relationships and consistently achieving sales targets.
* Sector Knowledge: Experience working with local government or public sector clients is highly desirable, with an understanding of their procurement and decision-making processes.
* Customer Needs Analysis: Skilled at identifying customer needs and providing tailored solutions, including software and hardware product offerings.
* Strong networking capabilities: comfortable engaging with both public sector clients and private sector contractors.
* Product Familiarity: Comfortable managing a portfolio that includes software solutions, hardware upgrades, and service contracts, with the ability to identify customer needs and propose tailored solutions.
* Digital Proficiency: Proficient in CRM systems and Microsoft Office tools to manage customer data, sales pipelines, and reporting.
* Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with diverse stakeholders including council officials and private sector contractors.
* Mobility: Willingness to travel regularly within assigned UK regions to build and maintain strong local relationships.
* Language: Fluent in English.
