Overview
CNC MACHINIST – SOUTH QUEENSFERRY
Up to £42,495.70 DOE (including shift allowance). Continental shift pattern with a rotating 4-team schedule.
Progress Rail is looking to recruit a CNC Machinist to operate milling machines and produce machined components to the production plan, in a safe and efficient manner, within the planned production time and to the required quality.
Responsibilities
* Setting, programming and operating CNC milling machines.
* Accurately follow route card instructions and read engineering drawings.
* Use measuring equipment to ensure ongoing quality of components.
* Identify and load the correct tools for the job and change their inserts.
* Use Dial Test Indicator (DTI) for probing and setting up the job; setup the full range of jobs required on the machine.
* Occasional use of overhead cranes. Crane training is advantageous but can be provided.
* Load, edit and back up programmes into the machine, ensuring correct data for each process.
* Competent in the use of grinders and other power tools, along with templates and gauges.
* Self-inspection of parts produced and resolution of non-conformance issues.
* Work as part of a team to achieve production timelines.
* Train new operatives as required.
* Ensure safety requirements are met and work in accordance with company procedures and legislation. Wear correct PPE and maintain housekeeping.
* Report accidents and near-miss incidents according to procedures.
* Communicate with the second shift via the shift log book and at shift changeover.
* Ensure quality standards are met and improved where possible.
Candidate
Essential
* Experience in manufacturing industry, preferably in a medium to heavy environment.
* CNC operator experience, preferably milling.
* Experience of using CAD CAM.
* Ability to read engineering drawings.
* Awareness of safety legislation and quality procedures (ISO 9001).
Desirable
* Knowledge and previous use of Fanuc, Heidenhain and Siemens language is advantageous.
* Programming experience is advantageous.
