Purpose of the Role
To manage a portfolio of clients and deliver accounting and tax planning solutions, building relationships to effectively deliver projects and grow the team, focusing on key rural clients.
Responsibilities
* Provide exceptional service to clients across various areas, ensuring cost-effectiveness and timeliness.
* Respond promptly to client queries and third-party inquiries (e.g., HMRC).
* Seek to gain experience and progress roles by handling more advanced work and delegating routine tasks.
* Develop knowledge of clients and their businesses to serve as their point of contact.
* Review accounts and tax returns prepared by junior staff, including corporate and unincorporated clients.
* Assist in managing the Agriculture and Property Department to meet objectives through planning, staff appraisals, delegation, and sourcing knowledge.
* Complete staff appraisal forms, providing feedback and training as needed.
* Identify business and tax planning opportunities, VAT, NIC issues, and business points, preparing reports and liaising with advisers.
* Assist partners with specific assignments such as business planning, advisory, and tax matters.
* Help control WIP by progressing work to completion and billing, liaising with partners as needed.
* Monitor progress against deadlines for company reporting, P11Ds, tax returns, etc.
* Ensure work is planned and executed efficiently and cost-effectively by liaising with partners and supervising staff.

Critical Knowledge Required
* Deep knowledge of accounts preparation and taxation.
* Proficiency with MS Office products.
Qualifications Required
Essential: ACA, ACCA, or CTA qualification or equivalent experience.
Experience Required
Essential: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in accounts and tax within a practice environment.
Desirable: Manager-level experience within a practice, with a focus on rural business or related services.
