Responsibilities
* Contribute to the provision of a high quality, responsive critical care service to Barking,Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust that assumes responsibility for the patients within the catchment area in co-operation with colleagues in anaesthetics and other clinical departments. This will involve caring for patients on the ITUs and HDUs at Queen's Hospital and/or King George Hospital, reviewing patients and initiating critical care treatment in Accident & Emergency, theatre recovery and ward areas, and undertaking transfer of patients (both intra- and inter-hospital).
* Comply with the agreed job plan, which will be reviewed annually.
* Participate in an emergency out of hours resident on-call cover for critical care medicine.
* Contribute to postgraduate and continuing education for medical, nursing, technical staff, GP's and other allied professions.
* Deputise in the absence of departmental colleagues in cases of annual leave and (where practicable) short-term sickness.
This is a 1-year post and applicants will be expected to have suitable experience in Intensive Care. It would suit an experienced senior ITU speciality doctor who is interested in gaining further clinical experience before applying for CESR/Portfolio pathway.
This is an exciting and unique opportunity for a doctor with an interest in critical care to develop as a clinician. The post is designed to provide a wide range of critical care experience, including attending the follow up clinic and working with a range of specialities to continue to develop critical care services within the Trust.

We're looking forward to introducing an electronic patient record next year. This will mean the records of any patient visiting one of the seven hospitals run by BHRUT and Barts Health will be accessible to the clinical teams. It'll make things easier for staff and will be better for patients., Ensuring people settle in and feel part of our Trust straight away is one of our top priorities. Remuneration
All salaries are inclusive of standard allowances e.g. High Cost Area for staff on Agenda for Change contracts.

Smoking Policy
Trust buildings and grounds became fully Smoke Free on National No Smoking Day 11th March 2015. The Trust expects all staff to promote healthy living and to set good examples in their own behaviour. Those not ready to quit smoking must remain smoke free during working hours, and will not be able to smoke in Trust uniform, in Trust grounds including car parks, while driving on Trust business or take smoking breaks. Second hand smoke causes heart and lung disease, and is harmful to young children. However, disposable or rechargeable e-cigarettes ("vaping") may be used outside hospital buildings.
