Junior Release Engineer

About FNZ and the Team
You’ll be joining the Figaro Release Operations team, part of FNZ’s Operational Support function. We’re responsible for delivering software releases to clients, making sure everything is tested, documented, and ready to go. We also support the environments and tools used by our development and testing teams.

Role Overview
As a Junior Release Engineer, you’ll help deliver software releases across FNZ platforms, working closely with teams across Delivery, Product, and Support. You’ll gain hands-on experience in deployment processes, cloud environments, and release management practices.
You’ll be supported in developing your technical skills while contributing to real releases and learning how to improve processes over time.
What You’ll Be Doing
1. Assist with deploying FNZ Figaro software to internal and client environments
2. Support release activities across cloud and on-prem environments (AWS, Azure, GCP, IBM)
3. Help maintain and run deployment tools and scripts
4. Carry out routine application and environment checks
5. Help create and update release documentation (release notes, plans, runbooks)
6. Support release planning activities, including pre-checks and post-release validation
7. Learn and follow FNZ change management processes
8. Contribute ideas to improve release processes and automation
9. Gain exposure to DevOps tools and ways of working
10. Support small improvements and internal projects
11. Work closely with experienced engineers and learn from the team
12. Help investigate and resolve basic technical issues
13. Provide support to internal teams where needed
14. Participate in team activities and occasional out-of-hours release support (with guidance)
What We’re Looking For
15. A degree in a scientific or technical discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or similar)
16. Strong people skills, with the ability to build relationships and provide great customer service
17. Familiarity of Financial Services, specifically financial markets/products
18. Some exposure to IT, software delivery, or technical support (e.g. internship, placement, or early career role)
19. Basic understanding of software development or deployment concepts
20. Familiarity with tools like JIRA or Confluence is helpful but not essential
21. Basic knowledge of SQL or scripting is a plus
22. Eager to learn and develop new technical skills
23. Strong problem-solving mindset and attention to detail
24. Confident communicator, comfortable working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
25. Organized and able to manage tasks with support
26. Customer-focused, with a proactive and positive approach to helping others
