Depot Lead role at Lanes Group. The Depot Lead is responsible for the efficient management of depot operations, ensuring the proper handling, storage, and distribution of materials and stock, maintaining depot standards, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
We operate 24/7 and require flexible hours, weekends, and participation in an on-call rota. Full training, PPE, and use of company equipment will be provided to ensure staff have the right tools, competency, and confidence to operate to Lanes’ high standards.
Location: Crawley Depot (Crawley, Sussex). Job Type: permanent, full-time. Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours (start times discussed at interview). Salary: £28,000 per annum. Benefits: 21 days holiday (plus bank holidays); health cash plan; onsite parking; auto enrolment pension scheme.

About the role: Working in our Utility Division on the Southern Water contract to deliver practical solutions to waste-water network and drainage problems. The role includes depot standards, stock and inventory management, health, safety and compliance, logistics and deliveries management, fleet and equipment management, administrative and reporting duties, and customer/client liaison.
Essential duties focus on maintaining a tidy, compliant depot; managing stock records and just-in-time replenishment; conducting safety checks; managing PPE; coordinating material receipt, storage, and distribution; ensuring correct loading/unloading and safe transport; maintaining depot vehicles and equipment; producing relevant reports and preparing for audits; and liaising with clients to meet requirements.
What is essential is the ability to work safely to diagnose and deliver practical solutions that meet customer expectations. The ideal candidate will have operational expertise (including budgeting and forecasting), strong negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills, strategic thinking, data-driven decision making, excellent organizational skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Adaptability and flexibility are key.
Qualifications & Requirements:
* Industry accreditations are required
* Health and Safety certifications (e.g. IOSH or First Aid) are an advantage
* Experience in the drainage, utilities, or retail industry will be beneficial
* A full UK drivers licence
* Class 2 HGV licence is desirable
