Test Centre Associate – Preston
Pay Range: £13.45 per hour
Role Overview
Join Reed in Partnership as a Test Centre Associate in Preston, supporting the DVSA programme by providing secure assessment of prospective new drivers.
Day‑to‑day Responsibilities
* Providing a high level of customer service
* Checking candidates' ID documents and booking them in on the system
* Ensuring the integrity and security of tests are maintained
* Supervision and invigilation of tests
* Explaining the test process to candidates and supporting them with other queries
* Reviewing tests and test centre scheduling
* Performing daily test centre opening and closing procedures
* Ensuring the test centre meets individual candidate needs in line with the Equality Act and our approach to diversity and inclusion
* Handling and reporting incidents that could impact candidate testing
Work Schedule
* Mornings – 8.30am to 1pm/2pm
* Afternoons – 12.30pm/1pm to 5.30pm/6.30pm
* Full day – 8.30am to 5.30pm/6.30pm
* Evenings – 4.30pm/5pm to 8.30pm/9.30pm
* Afternoon & Evenings – 12pm/1pm to 8.30pm/9.30pm
The Preston site usually opens four to five days per week, mainly Monday–Thursday with occasional Saturdays. Flexibility across all operating days, evenings and weekends is required.
Qualifications
* Full UK driving licence (driving not required for all locations)
* Significant demonstrable experience in providing high‑quality customer service
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
* Ability to work under pressure and multitask to meet short timescales
* Experience working with diverse customer groups
* Excellent judgment and decision‑making skills
* Flexibility in working hours and days, including evenings and Saturdays
* Ability to remain calm and deal with confrontational candidates in a professional manner
