Overview
An opportunity has arisen for a Historic Environment Record (HER) Assistant to support the Archaeology Service in maintaining and enhancing the HER, working under the guidance of the HER Officer. This part‑time role requires 30 hours per week until March 2028.
Responsibilities
Update and improve records within the bespoke HER database and Geographic Information System (GIS). Create new records and enhance existing ones, covering all aspects of the HER and drawing on a wide range of sources, periods and site types, with a particular focus on Local List information.
Qualifications
* Degree in Archaeology or a closely related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
* Basic understanding of Historic Environment Record (HER) standards
* Understanding of database and digital mapping (GIS) systems
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to think analytically and solve problems
