The Opportunity
This is an exciting time to join Arup as we sit at the heart of the UK's infrastructure sector, leading on nationally significant schemes in energy, water, aviation and more. We are expanding our stakeholder engagement and consultation centre of excellence in the Midlands and seeking senior consultants to work with our team and partners on stakeholder engagement, consultation and reporting for some of the UK's largest development consent orders (DCOs) and related projects.
What you will do (Responsibilities)
* Act as a Deputy Stakeholder Engagement lead for projects
* Contribute to preparing stakeholder and consultation plans
* Create and publish printed and digital communications materials and other collateral
* Assist with management and delivery of public consultation events
* Oversee the analysis and coding of consultation responses and production of coding frameworks
* Support authors of consultation reports (statutory and non-statutory)
* Support the management and facilitation of stakeholder workshops
* Support the development of new technologies and best practice techniques for consultation
* Identify and map stakeholders and audiences

Essential Skills and Knowledge
* Demonstrable experience delivering stakeholder engagement and consultation for DCOs and TCPAs
* Excellent verbal communication and written skills
* Experience of supporting consultation events
* Strong project management and organisational skills
* Creative thinking and ability to contribute to development of consultation and communications tools
* Ability to work as part of a team and manage people for consultation
* Emotional intelligence with ability to negotiate and persuade
Qualifications
* Degree or Masters, or a Diploma in communications, public relations, town planning or a relevant discipline
* Aspiring to chartered membership of a relevant professional institute (e.g., Consultation Institute, Chartered Institute of Public Relations or equivalent) as agreed and supported by the Midlands Planning Leader
Desirable Skills and Knowledge
* Relevant sector experience (energy, transport, water) in communications, consultation and engagement
* Full driving licence
