Associate Psychological Practitioner

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Associate Psychological Practitioner/Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioner to work within the Lancashire and South Cumbria Traumatic Stress Service (LSCTSS).
Based in Chorley, the Traumatic Stress Service provides a specialist assessment and treatment service for individuals who experience a significant range of distressing symptoms following an event(s) which they have found to be traumatic.
A key part of this role would be working with clients who are on the treatment waiting list and to help provide them with the psychological skills to help manage and alleviate their distress. Main duties of the job
The post-holder will work in a defined area of health and social care. This may be acute healthcare, mental health and/or community health. The post holder will work with people from different cultural backgrounds and of different ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities.
The post-holder will be required to conduct psychological assessments, develop structured formulations and deliver psychologically informed, evidence-based interventions under the supervision of an experienced clinical psychologist/ qualified psychological professional. This will include interventions appropriate to presenting need such as cognitive behavioural techniques, solution-focused approaches and mindfulness-based skills.

Person Specification
Education/Training/Qualifications
* A minimum of a second-class honours degree or higher in psychology.
* Eligibility for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society.
* Successful completion and pass on the Postgraduate Diploma Associate Psychological Practitioner (PGDip APP).
Knowledge and Skills
* Demonstrates an understanding of lifespan psychology applied to health care.
* Demonstrates an understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with psychological/mental health difficulties or other disabilities.
* Good communication skills (written and verbal) including an ability to communicate and work across a number of different settings.
* Ability to work with people from different backgrounds and of different ages
* An ability and confidence to interact effectively with staff from all disciplines.
Experience
* Experience of working with people with who experience difficulties with mental health and/or physical health.
* To have worked as part of a team in a clinical setting.
* Experience of conducting research projects of service related audit.
