Community Nurse (Stronsay) - Orcades Practice
Band 5: £33,479 – £41,322 including Distant Islands Allowance (pro rata per annum)
Part-time: 30.15 hours per week
Fixed Term: 12 months (while a service review takes place)
Position Overview
You will work on a rotational basis with an on-call commitment during duty days. This role offers an opportunity to develop new generalist skills and build on your experience. We are seeking a nurse whose skills and experience can contribute to our vision of becoming a centre of excellence in remote and rural healthcare.

NHS Orkney aims to be a leader in remote and rural healthcare. We are recruiting an Island Community Nurse to support our team on Westray, providing relief cover. Stronsay, with approximately 350 residents, is part of the Orcades Practice, serving around 1,943 patients across six island practices. These practices operate 24/7 healthcare services, with weekly team meetings to share knowledge and support professional development.
Role Responsibilities
* Deliver care to the island population as part of a small health team
* Assess, plan, and monitor the quality of healthcare across the lifespan
* Provide community and practice nursing services
* Offer emergency cover as required
* Participate in 24-hour on-call duties when on duty
Candidate Requirements
* Experienced Band 5 nurse
* Forward-thinking, highly motivated, with up-to-date clinical knowledge and skills
* Interest in working and developing a broad range of skills in a remote and rural setting
