A leading Northern Ireland-based product design and manufacturing organisation is seeking a talented Design Engineer to join their growing engineering team. Your new roleAs a Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the development of new products and continuous improvement of existing designs, working from concept through to production. You will collaborate across multidisciplinary teams including R&D, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain, ensuring designs are robust, manufacturable, and meet both customer and regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities:
1. Design and develop innovative products using 3D CAD software ( SolidWorks or similar)
2. Generate detailed engineering drawings and specifications
3. Support the full product lifecycle from concept through prototyping to validation
4. Work closely with manufacturing teams on Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)
5. Lead or contribute to design reviews, testing, and validation activities
6. Liaise with suppliers and external partners onponents and tooling
7. Support continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives
What you’ll need to succeed
8. Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related discipline
9. Experience in a design engineering role within manufacturing
10. Strong 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks preferred)
11. Knowledge of plasticponents, injection moulding, or similar processes
12. Understanding of DFM / DFA principles
13. Experience with prototyping and product validation
14. Strongmunication and problem-solving skills
