Janus Conservation is looking for a commercially aware, delivery-focused Heritage Consultant to support our growing workload. You’ll be part of a small, multidisciplinary team working across heritage consultancy, building surveying, and project services.
This role is focused on project delivery - drafting clear, high-quality planning advice, contributing to efficient workflows, and engaging professionally with clients, collaborators, and LPAs.
📍 Thame, Oxfordshire (with flexible and home working options)
💼 Full-time | Permanent
💷 Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 depending on experience
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Write statements of significance and heritage impact assessments
* Prepare supporting material for planning and listed building consent applications
* Liaise with clients, architects, planning consultants, and local authorities
* Assist with proposal scoping, pricing, and project planning
* Use and refine internal templates and delivery systems
* Support the team with dependable, well-organised consultancy input
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
* At least 3 years’ experience in commercial heritage consultancy
* Full IHBC membership or currently working towards it
* Strong working knowledge of UK planning policy and heritage legislation
* Excellent writing and communication skills
* Experience working with clients and collaborators in a professional setting
* Confident using digital tools and AI to support efficient working
* Practical, organised, and commercially aware
* A collaborative and reliable team player
