LTO EA Level D – Special Needs – 30 hrs/wk Chalmers Street
This posting is open to WRDSB employees who are members of the EA Association as well as external applicants. Staff already in an LTO are not eligible to apply if it conflicts with their current LTO. All LTO assignments are subject to a revised end date with 2 weeks' notice.
Qualifications/Requirements
A condition of employment as an EA/CYW with the Waterloo Region District School Board is passing a Physical Demands test. All job offers are conditional on passing this test, applicable to any EA/CYW without existing Permanent/LTO level D hours.
Educational Assistant Qualifications
* Certified Teachers
* Educational Assistant Diploma or Educational Support Diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution
* Developmental Service Worker (DSW) from an accredited post-secondary institution
* Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from an accredited post-secondary institution
* Social Services Diploma (SSW) from an accredited post-secondary institution
Alternative EA Qualifications with Experience
* Post-secondary degree in Sociology with at least one year (1,224 hours) of related work experience supporting special needs children, or significant relevant volunteer experience
* Minimum six months diploma in a child-related discipline with similar experience or volunteer work
* Minimum six months certificate in a child-related discipline with similar experience or volunteer work
* Post-secondary degree/diploma supporting special needs children, as determined by the Board, with similar experience or volunteer work
Assets
* Valid Behaviour Management Systems certification
* Recent experience working with students with special needs and behavioral disabilities
* Autism Spectrum Disorder Training
* Lifting/Positioning Training
