A major UK retailer is seeking a Contract Consumer Analyst to join their growing analytics team and drive insight-led decision-making across customer acquisition and marketing strategy. This is a 6-month contract, paying £450/day (outside IR35), with a requirement to be in their Central London office just once a week.
About the Role
As a Consumer Analyst, you'll play a key role in helping the business understand who their customers are, how they behave, and what drives acquisition and retention. You'll turn complex data into compelling stories and actionable insights that inform marketing performance and strategy.
This role is ideal for a hands-on analyst who enjoys autonomy, thinks commercially, and knows how to transform raw data into business impact. There are no fixed deliverables-just a need for clear thinking, curiosity, and smart execution.
Key Responsibilities
* Analyse customer acquisition performance and marketing campaign outcomes
* Build and maintain dashboards using Power BI
* Conduct deep-dive analysis into customer behaviour and trends
* Write efficient SQL to manipulate and query complex data sets
* Support forecasting, performance tracking, and marketing reporting
* Help develop measurement logic for brand campaign evaluation
* Turn insights into clear, business-ready stories for senior stakeholders
Key Skills & Experience
Must-Have:
* Strong SQL proficiency
* Hands-on experience with Power BI (dashboard creation and maintenance)
* Proven background in customer or marketing analytics
Nice-to-Have:
* Experience with Python (for analysis or automation)
* Exposure to forecasting, attribution modelling, or incrementality analysis
Desired Skills and Experience

Strong SQL: Confident writing complex queries and handling large datasets
Power BI: Experience building and maintaining dashboards
Customer or Marketing Analytics: Proven background analysing acquisition, retention, or campaign performance
Storytelling with Data: Ability to translate analysis into clear, actionable business insights
Commercial Mindset: Focused on driving business outcomes through analytics
Nice-to-Have:
Python: For data analysis, automation, or modelling
Forecasting & Attribution Modelling: Exposure to incrementality measurement or marketing mix modelling
Retail or eCommerce Experience: Understanding of consumer behaviour in a B2C environment
Experimentation: Familiarity with A/B testing or causal inference methods
