Role Summary
This role offers an opportunity for a Buyer to take ownership of a high-revenue product stream, combining traditional purchasing expertise with strong commercial awareness and data-driven decision-making. The Buyer will be responsible for managing demand, inventory, and supplier performance within a fast-paced environment, ensuring customer commitments are met while driving continuous improvement across the supply chain.
Role & Responsibilities of the Buyer:
* Ensure all purchase orders raised accurately reflect demand and forecasted requirements against agreed stock levels and order quantities, using lean Plan For Every Part (PFEP) technique.
* Maintain efficient inventory control through accurate forecasting and timely ordering.
* Confirm purchase orders and maintain supplier promise dates to ensure sales order commitments are achieved.
* Build and sustain effective supplier relationships, negotiating optimal commercial terms and pricing.
* Review the customer order book and expedite supplier purchase orders to ensure on-time shipment of sales orders.
* Expedite with suppliers when required and clearly communicate any potential risks or issues to internal stakeholders.
Experience needed:
* Experience working as a Buyer in a manufacturing environment.
* Proven experience using ERP / MRP systems to manage inventory and demand.
* Demonstrated capability in driving improvements through PFEP methodologies.
* Strong supplier relationship management and effective internal stakeholder communication skills.
* Experience expediting orders and validating supplier acknowledgements for accuracy.
* Ability to analyse data using Excel to identify supplier performance improvement opportunities.
* CIPS qualification or actively working towards one would be advantageous
Working hours are Monday to Thursday 8am to and Friday 8am to 2pm ( per week)
