Now is an exciting time to join our team as we embark on this transformative journey towards a greener future.About the roleIn this role as an Engineering Technician within the Central Plant Engineering (CPE) team at the Port of Tilbury, you will support the maintenance, repair, and optimisation of a wide range of key port equipment and systems. This includes mobile harbour cranes, heavy plant machinery, infrastructure systems, and other associated assets vital to port operations. You will play a hands-on role in delivering high equipment availability through planned preventative maintenance, responding swiftly to breakdowns, and contributing to ongoing improvement initiatives. This position is essential to supporting the port's goals of safety, reliability, and operational excellence.Key responsibilities:Perform planned maintenance, fault diagnosis, breakdown repairs and condition-based monitoring across a diverse range of mobile and fixed plant equipmentRapidly respond to breakdowns to minimise downtime and disruption to port operationsUndertake mechanical and/or electrical installation work and modifications to systems and infrastructure in line with engineering standardsLiaise with Shift Supervisors and Engineering Managers to ensure timely updates on equipment status and work progressContribute to reliability improvement efforts through effective root cause analysis and accurate failure reportingSupport asset compliance by completing statutory checks, safety inspections and associated documentationOperate and inspect engineering plant in accordance with procedures, including mobile elevated work platforms, cranes, FLTs and plant vehiclesMaintain high standards of housekeeping, lubrication, and cleanliness across workshops and equipmentCollaborate effectively with Operations, Technical Specialists, and other Engineering team members to deliver a safe and reliable serviceWhat are we looking for?We are looking for a proactive and adaptable individual with a strong hands-on engineering background, ideally in mechanical, electrical, or plant maintenance. You'll have a practical approach to problem-solving, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The ideal candidate will be someone who takes
pride in maintaining high standards of equipment reliability and is motivated to contribute to continuous improvement.
