Surrey Liaison and Diversion Service are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated, registered mental health professional or social worker to join our team to support pregnant women and those who have recently given birth.
About the role
We support individuals who have come into contact with the youth and criminal justice system with a caring, compassionate, person-centred approach across all vulnerabilities—not only mental health. This includes providing high-quality community-based interventions to improve health and social care outcomes and reduce future re‑offending.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide clinical expertise and conduct vulnerability and mental health assessments of women, focusing on health, social circumstances, and risk information.
* Develop clear care plans and risk management plans to promote safe onward care from police custody, court, prison or from community return.
* Act as a strong advocate and collaborate closely with Mental Health Services, Drug and Alcohol Services, Social Care, Probation, Prison Healthcare, Court and Custody colleagues to achieve positive outcomes.
* Offer clinical support to the Liaison and Diversion Team, Surrey Police and associated teams to inform key decision‑making and respond to the assessed woman’s needs.
* Maintain organisational efficiency, manage wide Surrey coverage across police custodies, courts and prisons, and ensure timely communication with stakeholders.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Registered mental health professional or social worker.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Enhanced DBS clearance and Surrey & Sussex Police clearances (NPPV level 2).
* UK resident for more than three years.
* Willingness to work a standard shift of 09:00‑17:00, Monday to Friday, across Surrey.
