To ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, company policies, and best practices across the branch network. The Health and Safety Officer will proactively identify risks, implement safety measures, and promote a culture of safety throughout the organisation. About You Key Responsibilities: Compliance & Governance · Ensure all branches comply with current health and safety legislation and company standards. · Assist in maintaining and updating health and safety policies and procedures. Risk Assessment & Audits · Conduct regular branch audits to identify hazards & risks. · Carry out risk assessments with the company health and safety team / branch management. · Carry out PEEPS as required. · Identify and report on any failing areas or those with potential for improvement. · Develop and implement corrective action plans. Training & Awareness · Deliver health and safety training to branch staff. (TBT’s, e-learning etc.) · Promote a positive safety culture through awareness campaigns and engagement. · Encourage incident reporting in a timely manner. · Assist in opening new branches / train new branch managers / teams. Incident Management · Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses; produce detailed reports and recommend improvements. · Maintain accurate records of incidents and compliance documentation. Emergency Preparedness · Ensure branches have up-to-date emergency plans and conduct drills. · Advise on fire safety, first aid provision, and evacuation procedures. Stakeholder Engagement · Work closely with branch managers and regional teams to embed safety practices. · Liaise with external bodies (HSE, insurers) as required. Skills & Qualifications: · NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent (essential) – working towards Diploma level. · Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practices. · Behavioural safety experience. · Experience in multi-site health and safety management. · Excellent communication and influencing skills. · Ability to travel across the branch network (UK travel, barring Scotland).
