Job purpose: The Youth Development Phase Lead is responsible for facilitating recruitment, coaching, and supporting players and staff at MK Dons Academy for ages U13-U16. They will also support the transition of players into the Professional Development Phase by working alongside the U18 multidisciplinary staff.
Key responsibilities:
* Manage the pathway (training, fixtures, reviews, development plans, transition, and feedback) for all players across the U13-U16 age groups.
* Ensure the coaching syllabus and methodology are implemented daily to prepare players for scholarships.
* Plan, deliver, and review coaching sessions for Academy players.
* Plan, deliver, and review the games programme for the Youth Development Programme (YDP) players.
Decision making:
* Evaluate player progress using internal auditing systems and player depth charting, including trialists.
* Recruit new players based on performance evaluations aligned with the Academy Principles and Competency Framework.
* Complete additional tasks to benefit the organization as required.
* Facilitate high-standard delivery of coaching sessions by part-time coaches.
* Assist with the practical delivery of the scholarship programme when needed.
* Maintain accurate records related to all aspects of the U13-U16 phase.
* Work closely with coaching staff to communicate knowledge of all academy players across age groups.
* Collaborate with the Head of Coaching, providing regular feedback on training and match performances.
* Communicate schedules promptly and accurately.
Budget management:
* Ensure the condition and cleanliness of academy equipment, reporting faults as necessary.
* Maintain a tidy and safe environment for facilities and equipment use.
Leadership and development:
* Support the progression of players through the pathway in collaboration with staff, working closely with other Lead Phase Coaches.
* Provide clear direction for part-time coaches working with U13-U16 players.
* Facilitate weekly multidisciplinary meetings for the Youth Development Phase.
Operating parameters:
* Attend and contribute to club CPD events.
* Keep all relevant administration up to date for the Youth Development Phase.
* Monitor video analysis to ensure best practice sessions and clips are available for coaches and players.

* UEFA ‘A’ Licence Coaching Certificate.
* FA BFAS or EFAiF First Aid Certificate.
* FA Youth Award (Modules 1, 2, and 3) and FA Advanced Youth Award.
* Full Driving Licence and previous experience in academy coaching across phases.
* Line management experience and effective delegation skills.
* D1 Category (Minibus) Driving Licence and UEFA ‘Pro’ Licence preferred.
