Summary This position involves the design of electrical control systems for packaging machinery. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating circuit designs using AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN, conducting control system safety assessments with Sistema, and developing machine software using platforms such as Rockwell, Beckhoff, and Zenon. Key Responsibilities The Electrical Engineer will: Lead electrical design tasks for customer-specific projects. Attend customer meetings, offering expert input on all electrical design aspects. Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers to ensure fully integrated project designs. Contribute innovative and practical design ideas. Deliver engineering work according to project timelines and schedules. Maintain awareness of design, procurement, and assembly cost targets. Properly document and archive all project-related information. Perform risk assessments on machinery. Participate in project meetings and provide regular updates. Assist assembly teams during machine build and commissioning phases. Research, evaluate, and recommend new technologies. Ensure electrical systems meet relevant regulatory standards, including CE, NEC, CSA, and UL. Provide occasional remote or on-site technical support. Take project leadership when working with multiple engineers. Main Duties Design electrical control systems using AutoCAD Electrical and/or EPLAN. Develop and write PLC software using Rockwell and Beckhoff platforms. Program servo motion systems using Rockwell and Beckhoff. Create HMI interfaces using Rockwell and Zenon. Develop safety controller code using Pilz and Phoenix systems. Generate bills of materials using Agile PLM software. Commission packaging machinery both in-house and at customer sites. Job Requirements Valid passport and UK driving license. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed. Knowledge and Skills Required Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification. Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical and software engineering, preferably within the packaging industry. Experience with capital equipment and machinery. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Strong negotiation, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities. Methodical approach to reporting and documentation. Advanced communication and teamwork skills. Skilled in programming using Rockwell, Beckhoff, and Zenon software. Competent in electrical CAD tools (AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN). Understanding of design for manufacture and assembly principles. Knowledge of safety standards and compliance regulations (CE, NEC, CSA, UL). Trained in performance safety levels and Sistema for risk assessment. Cost-conscious design approach.
