We are seeking a Senior Data Manager to join our Hannover Re UK Branch. The Single Risk Data Manager will lead the development and implementation of the Hannover Re L&H Single Risk data strategy. You will utilise your expertise in data management, planning, communication, and analysis to deliver the business transformations vital to our future operating model. Incorporating your knowledge of data techniques, models, governance, and solutions, you will be wholly committed to the discovery and development of innovative solutions in an ever-changing business landscape. You will collaborate with business representatives, project managers, end-users, technical teams, business architects and other subject matter experts across the business on key data-driven business change projects to maximise the value generated from our activities, align with our business objectives, develop our data culture and maturity, and leverage the power of data as a core asset for the organisation. You will develop a deep understanding of reinsurance processes that rely on effective data management and governance. You will play a critical role in shaping the Group’s data-driven future across Business Development, Underwriting, Claims, Risk, Operations, Valuation and Finance functions. This is an exciting, challenging and highly varied role requiring a candidate with excellent influencing and strategic skills, combined with a focus on operational excellence. You will have the ability to think outside the box and develop sustainable relationships with key stakeholders at all levels of the organisation across the globe.
Your Profile
1. To own the development and implementation of the Group’s L&H Single Risk data strategy, aligning actions and initiatives with the delivery of the Group’s business objectives
2. Develop the framework and activities to improve continuously the quality, consistency and timeliness of single risk data used across the business. Design, implement and maintain the client data processes to meet evolving business requirements.
3. To own single risk data governance as a key element of the group’s data governance and provide expert support for local offices and group functions in the implementation of data governance initiatives.
4. Support the development of enhanced ingestion, transformation, and reporting solutions to improve operational controls and deliver actionable management insights in respect of reinsurance and financial data.
5. Support business teams in the replacement of legacy solutions with new approaches, solutions, and tools to deliver greater process efficiency and stronger integration with Group standards.
6. To investigate and coordinate synergies within single risk data-related topics across the local offices and Group functions.
7. To proactively support the development of the single risk community, taking the lead on developing data maturity and enhanced data culture in support of the strategic goals.
8. Build effective and sustainable relationships across the Group, including travel to relevant locations, to strengthen cross-functional working and collaboration, including committees and working parties.
9. Proactively seek out emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in data strategy, culture, and management, and assess their potential opportunities and impacts on the Group’s Life & Health single risk data operations.
Your Tasks
10. Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a data-related subject
11. Knowledge of insurance or reinsurance business an advantage.
12. Knowledge of working in a global, multi-disciplinary role.
13. A proven track record of developing and implementing practical data strategy in complex organisations, incorporating culture, governance, processes, and solutions.
14. Experience of leading successful project or change delivery in a large organisation.
15. Experience of working with both agile and waterfall delivery methods is desirable.
16. Experience with collecting, organising, and analysing large data sets.
17. Sound understanding of IT principles, to be able to knowledgeably assess the potential data impacts of a proposed technical solution.
18. Knowledge of relevant data governance, data model structures, technologies, programming languages, data visualisation, and reporting systems.
19. Great communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex ideas and messages to a wide range of audiences, and an ability to translate data into actionable insights.
