Overview
Locum Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon with a responsibility in Breast Services for Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
Responsibilities
* The Breast Services activities are concentrated in two main areas: the symptomatic service for GP referred patients and the NHS Breast Screening Programme. The Oncoplastic breast surgery service within Breast Services provides standard diagnostic and therapeutic surgery, as well as a comprehensive reconstructive surgery service (working closely with the Plastic Surgeons).
* The Breast Service is multidisciplinary and includes, under a single management team, surgeons, radiologists, specialist nurses (breast care nurses and nurse practitioners) and ACPs (advanced care practitioners), diagnostic radiographers, waiting list coordinators, MDT coordinators and administrative/clerical staff.
* The post holder will maintain the Consultant surgeon membership of the specialist multidisciplinary breast team, located at the City Hospital Campus, and will deliver a clinical service in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery with opportunities for continuous professional development and participation in joint lists and the Oncoplastic forum/ MDT.

Job Description & On-call
Job responsibilities: For detailed description of main responsibilities refer to the Job Description document. The service may operate across both campuses with possible NHS commitments at independent sector sites; primary base is the City Hospital Campus. The on-call commitment is currently 1:7. Elective activity is not cancelled during on-call periods.
Person Specification
Professional registration
* Essential: Full GMC registration
* Essential: Eligible to be included on the Specialist Register
* Essential: CCT expected within 6 months of interview date
* Essential: FRCS or Equivalent
Desirable
* Higher professional degree in breast related topic
Clinical Skills/Experience
* Evidenced oncoplastic operative skills
* Able to communicate effectively with patients, families and other health professionals
Other requirements
* Able to work flexibly in a changing health service
* Able to develop, present and operationalise coherent ideas for service development/delivery
* Able to work in a team
* Evidence of participation in Clinical Audit
* GCP certification
Desirable
* Original Research, publications in breast related topic, higher teaching degree or qualification or training
