Main duties of the job

1. To provide a comprehensive Medical Secretarial and Administration Service to the Department
2. Provide a full and comprehensive Medical Secretarial Service, including timely audio typing of clinic letters, letters, documents/presentations and compilation of administrative letters as required by the Consultant(s) and respective Team(s)

Person specification

Education, Qualification & Training

Essential criteria

13. GSCE Grade C or above/equivalent in English Language
14. RSA II Typing, or equivalent
15. Medical Secretarial Couse, Medical Terminology Course, or equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria

16. Experience of working within the NHS in a similar setting
17. Experience of working within a busy office environment
18. Experience of Microsoft Word
19. Experience of working in an environment dealing with highly confidential data

Skills, Abilities & Knowlegde

Essential criteria

20. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
21. Good written and telephone communication skills, to enable liaison with staff at all levels
22. Ability to organise and prioritise a busy workload
23. Skilled in working in a team
24. Knowledge of Data Protection Act 1998, ability to maintain patient confidentiality
25. Ability to cover the other duties of Secretarial staff within the Department
26. Knowledge of Trust information systems

Special Circumstances

Essential criteria

27. Willing to travel between the three main hospital sites within the Trust
28. Able to maintain a flexible approach to the role and duties

PPE requirements: Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust requires all colleagues to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with our infection prevention and control procedures.
