Process Technician role:
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys making things work. You will join during the commissioning phase of a pre-pilot system and play a key role in the transition to pilot operations.
You will be involved in building, commissioning, operating and maintaining process equipment, working closely with engineering and R&D teams to support trials and ensure the plant runs effectively.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong practical mindset who takes pride in fault-finding, problem-solving and keeping systems running in a fast-paced environment.
Process Technician responsibilities
Build & Commissioning
* Support the physical build and commissioning of process equipment
* Install and test pumps, pipework, valves, heat exchangers and associated systems
* Fabricate brackets, supports and custom fixtures where required
* Work alongside engineers and contractors during installation phases
Operations & Maintenance
* Operate pilot plant equipment during trials, following procedures and monitoring performance
* Carry out preventative maintenance, servicing and calibration activities
* Diagnose and resolve mechanical and process faults using a structured approach
Trial Support
* Support experimental programmes by setting up equipment and monitoring runs
* Prepare plant and materials ahead of trials
* Record data and provide practical observations during testing
Process Technician requirements
* Strong practical mechanical ability, gained through hands-on experience or training
* Experience working with process plant, industrial equipment or mechanical systems
* A methodical approach to fault-finding and problem-solving
* Understanding of safe working practices in a process or industrial environment
* Reliable, proactive and able to take ownership of tasks
Desirable:
* Engineering apprenticeship, HNC/HND or equivalent
* Experience in process industries such as chemicals, manufacturing, or food production
* Experience with pipework, fluid systems or pneumatics
* Basic knowledge of electrical systems or instrumentation
* Relevant operational licences (e.g. forklift, IPAF)
