Senior Social Worker - Supervising School Safeguarding Leads

Salary
Salary Grade 8 £41,771 - £47,181 per annum, plus an Essential Car User Allowance of £1,239 per annum and a 2% Recruitment and Retention Allowance paid monthly.

Responsibilities
* Lead supervision of around 40 (post in Integrated Contact & Referral Team) or 20 (post in Families First Pilot) school Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs).
* Provide high quality supervision to DSLs to improve knowledge and understanding of the Sunderland Safeguarding Children Partnership’s Multi‑Agency Threshold Guidance.
* Work closely with Children’s Social Care, the Integrated Contact and Referral Team, Early Help Service, School Improvement Service and schools to increase support to DSLs and improve the quality of referrals into children’s social care.
* Support schools in understanding changes to the Families First agenda and provide practical guidance on the policy.
* Report to and be supported by a social work Team Manager.
Qualifications and Experience
* Qualified social worker with a passion for safeguarding and education.
* Experience in a social work setting and familiarity with school safeguarding processes.
* Strong communication and partnership‑building skills with schools, local authority staff and other agencies.
* Commitment to continuous professional development, particularly in Trauma Informed Practice, Safe & Together training or similar.
