Overview

Change Grow Live (CGL) is one of the UK\'s leading health and social care charities and the Lead Nurse role is a varied one. You will be supporting people with multi-faceted issues related to the impact of substance use on their physical and mental health. Nurses are an integral member of our multidisciplinary teams, offering specialist clinical interventions to people who use our services. Every person who comes into our service is treated as an individual, so understanding the importance of a whole person approach along with being curious, a good listener, a clinically robust practitioner and having a flexible approach are essential skills. We actively support professional development including revalidation with protected CPD time and a range of educational opportunities. This role involves partnership with stakeholders and leadership within the nursing team, with responsibilities across clinical governance, service development and compliance.

We offer regular forums, 1:1s, appraisals, CPD support (up to 6 days per year), access to training resources, and personal well-being support. The role requires flexible working across operational sites and may involve evenings, weekends and bank holidays.


Responsibilities

* Lead the nursing team with motivation, enthusiasm, creativity and commitment.
* Maintain clinical governance, stay up to date with clinical practice and national guidelines, and integrate them into work.
* Provide clinical and managerial supervision to the nursing team.
* Contribute to service development to ensure high quality interventions aligned with best practice guidelines.
* Monitor, audit and sustain best practice across the service; provide peer support to regional lead nurses.
* Be part of the senior leadership team and support implementation of new clinical initiatives.
* Support the services manager to maintain compliance through assurance audits.
* Work in partnership with stakeholders to promote CGL clinical services to commissioners and health & wellbeing boards.
* Attend, organise and chair clinical advisory groups, committees and partnership meetings as required.


Clinical Practice

* Ensure integrated pathways for service users with health needs related to addiction.
* Ensure the clinical model is effective and aligned with CGL policy and national guidance.
* Implement/maintain immunisation and vaccination schemes to address BBV and other infectious diseases; advise other professionals on BBV care for people with drug and alcohol issues.
* Ensure adequate staffing for immunisation programmes and contractual requirements.
* Encourage CPD and create an environment supportive of learning and development.
* Disseminate information from senior teams to the nursing team and promote a quality service.
* Contribute to clinical audits and overall service performance to meet contractual targets.
* Deliver services to a high standard in line with national guidance, CGL policies, and CQC standards; support evidence-based practice.


Leadership and Team Working

* Collaborate with HR to ensure appropriate people and change management capabilities within teams.
* Lead the clinical aspects of new developments and communicate legislative requirements to employees.
* Engage with peers, supervise and develop nursing staff, and participate in core training programs.
* Attend, organise and chair clinical advisory groups, and share expertise across regions.
* Support colleagues regionally and across sites, including detoxification support where needed.


Risk Management and Information

* Conduct regular performance reviews and identify risks with appropriate actions.
* Develop and implement clinical SOPs to ensure effective service delivery and reporting.
* Ensure timely data management and meet information requirements related to service users.


Qualifications and Experience

* Essential: First level registered nurse with a current PIN. Significant experience in health/social care; knowledge of clinical interventions for diverse service users; understanding of UK Drug Strategy and social policy reforms; ability to lead and manage teams; strong communication and information governance awareness.
* Desirable: Experience in clinical services and substance misuse management; additional qualifications in social care, clinical services, substance misuse; knowledge of local resources; budget management experience; phlebotomy and leadership qualifications.
