Bus Compliance Officer East/Central Scotland
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Bus Users team in Scotland
We are looking for a Bus Compliance Officer, field based in the East/Central Scotland area, ideally within close proximity to Fife, Stirling, Midlothian, City of Edinburgh or East Lothian, to support the delivery of compliance of bus services in Scotland. The post holder will work with partners across Scotland including Scottish Government, local authorities, regional transport partnerships, the Office of The Traffic Commissioner and bus operators to support bus passengers and improve the punctuality and standards of bus services. Full training will be provided
This is a full-time role, 35 Hours per week, partly home based but travelling on public transport throughout an area including Edinburgh, Fife, Stirling, East Lothian, Midlothian, and the Scottish Borders with a salary of £22,720. Other travel within the UK will be required, with notice.
Main Duties
* Record the punctuality and reliability of bus services at timing points
* Identify if bus stops are fully accessible and have up-to-date information, reporting any issues identified direct to the Local Authority concerned.
* Travel on buses to monitor the standard of driving, the quality, cleanliness and condition of the bus and whether the route taken complies with the requirements set up by the Traffic Commissioner.
* Monitor and audit concessionary bus journeys
* Monitor and audit funding support for the bus industry.
* Monitor the performance of the Scottish bus network.
* Help maintain and improve bus services punctuality and reliability.
* Promote best practice in handling and investigation of complaints
* Provide a joined-up approach to representing the interests of bus passengers and dealing with bus operators and local authorities.
* Attend and give evidence at Traffic Commissioners’ Public Inquiries.
* Respond to requests from Scottish Government officials, Traffic Commissioner and others to carry out monitoring at short notice.

* willing to travel within Scotland and occasionally to other parts of UK, can work out of hours with notice
