Role Overview
This dual-role position is ideal for a technically-minded individual eager to develop their skills in mechanical and electrical building services, while also contributing to the design and cost planning of renewable energy systems. You will assist in both design and estimation tasks for projects involving HVAC, lighting, solar PV, heat pumps, EV charging, and more.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in the design, specification, and layout of M&E building services, including integration of renewable technologies
* Support the preparation of cost estimates, tender documents, and pricing schedules for new and refurbishment projects
* Engage with suppliers and manufacturers to source information and obtain competitive quotations
* Attend site surveys and client meetings with engineers
* Conduct basic calculations and contribute to the preparation of energy performance reports
* Stay informed about the latest industry trends, technologies, and UK regulations (including Part L, CIBSE, and SAP standards)
* Collaborate with the design and estimation teams to ensure coordinated and cost-effective solutions
* Maintain accurate records of estimates, design iterations, and supplier communications
Qualifications and Skills
* Degree or HND/HNC in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related subject
* Interest or experience in renewable energy systems (solar PV, heat pumps, EV charging, etc.)
* Understanding of UK Building Regulations and low-carbon building practices
* Familiarity with AutoCAD, and Microsoft office packages
* Strong numerical, analytical, and communication skills
* Enthusiastic about sustainable construction and eager to learn and grow within the company
