The Counter Fraud Investigator is responsible for day-to-day investigations within the Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), primarily focusing on driver-related investigations. Flexibility is key, as the role requires adapting to business needs. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Adopting the role of "Lead Investigator" when assigned, planning, preparing, and managing investigations to a criminal standard based on evidence.
2. Ensuring investigations are evidence-based.
3. Investigating reports of suspected malpractice during theory and practical driving tests, including impersonations and technology-assisted cheating.
4. Investigating reports of illegal driving instruction and other malpractice.
5. Planning, preparing, and managing investigations, ensuring all reasonable lines of enquiry are followed.
6. Collecting and evaluating evidence, creating case files.
7. Preparing reports and papers for prosecution or public inquiries, meeting deadlines.
8. Ensuring compliance with legislation such as PACE, RIPA, CPIA, DPA, FOI, and their Scottish equivalents.
9. Providing regular updates and reports to the department manager.
10. Liaising with other government departments and police forces.
11. Appearing in court as an expert witness.
12. Planning and executing surveillance, including managing RIPA issues.
