We are seeking an experienced senior manager to lead and support Advanced Practitioner Sonographers, providing operational oversight of day‑to‑day service delivery. You will ensure the smooth running of the service, effective resource use, and high‑quality patient care across all sites.
The role includes leading policy development, evaluating service impact, and driving progress toward directorate targets and KPIs. You will provide expert clinical leadership, mentorship, and supervision, promoting evidence‑based practice and supporting staff development.
You will champion service improvement, standardised workflows, and consistent quality, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to shape strategic planning and future service needs. This role requires strong leadership skills, advanced clinical knowledge, and a commitment to delivering a safe, efficient, and innovative ultrasound service.

Main duties of the job
1. The post holder is accountable for the effective and efficient delivery of clinical services within the areas of designated responsibility, both on a day to day and long-term perspective.
2. Ensure that developments, service reviews and planning are in line with the strategic and operational objectives of the Trust.

Skills and Experience
Essential criteria
20. Demonstrable record of management of complex health related performance management targets
21. Evidence of an in-depth knowledge of NHS priorities, processes and operational issues
22. Knowledge of a comprehensive range of Human Resource processes essential for staff management and service development, including supervision of junior staff
Desirable criteria
23. Experience in clinical teaching relevant to clinical specialist area
Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
24. Diploma / degree in relevant profession and registration of relevant professional body (e.g. Health Care Professions Council/RCT)
25. Master level qualification in relevant field or equivalent management experience at band 7 level or above for at least 5 years
26. Evidence of formal post graduate training in a Health Services Management Programme and / or demonstrable experience comparable to this level
27. Evidence of a portfolio of CPD
Desirable criteria
28. Evidence of accredited advanced / validated post graduate education relevant to management responsibilities and / or clinical care / evidence-based practice (e.g. MSc modules)
29. Membership of relevant Clinical Interest Group
