JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Post-Doctoral Fellow conducts independent and collaborative research in fundamental research in mechanical engineering. The position exists to advance research objectives through computational investigation, data analysis, and dissemination of results. This role contributes to peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, student mentorship, and the overall research mission of the laboratory while supporting the professional development of the postdoctoral scholar.
JOB DESCRIPTION
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Conduct independent and collaborative research and prepare peer-reviewed journal articles, conference papers, and technical reports to disseminate research findings.
2. Contribute to the development of research proposals, including literature review, preliminary results, and methodological descriptions.
3. Collaborate with faculty, graduate students, and external research partners in an interdisciplinary research environment.
4. Provide mentoring and technical guidance to graduate and undergraduate researchers, as appropriate.
5. Maintain well-documented research methods, workflows, and data, following best practices for reproducibility and research integrity.
REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must meet all the following minimum qualifications to be considered:
6. PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field, completed by the start date of the appointment.
7. Demonstrated research experience in computational models and design, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, dissertation research, or prior postdoctoral or doctoral work.
8. Experience conducting independent research, including model development, data analysis, and interpretation of results.
9. Ability to communicate research results effectively, demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications, technical reports, conference presentations, or written research statements.
10. Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary research environment.
These qualifications are non-comparative, objective, directly related to the position, and verifiable through application materials.
Annual salary: $47,500
