Lead the Way Wirral is a trusted and growing pet care and training service, supporting dogs and their families across the Wirral. From dog training and walking to in-home pet care, our mission is to provide compassionate, reliable, and professional support that helps owners feel confident their dogs are happy, safe, and well cared for.
We're now looking for dedicated self-employed pet sitters to join our team and take on house sitting and pet care bookings. Our sitters must have a genuine love for animals – caring for them as if they were their own.
Applicants must be based on the Wirral and can choose which areas they'd like to cover.
This role starts with house sitting but may also grow to include dog walking and drop-in visits. For those additional services, a full UK driving licence will be required.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will:
* Have previous experience in animal care (essential).
* Ideally already have their own pet care clients and be looking to expand.
* Hold (or be willing to obtain): Public liability insurance, DBS check and pet first aid certificate.
* Be based on the Wirral, with flexibility to cover chosen local areas.
* Be reliable, trustworthy, and professional in managing their own schedule.
* Be able to follow detailed instructions for feeding, medication, and routines.
* Provide regular photo and message updates to clients.
* Promptly alert the business and/or pet guardians to any changes in behaviour or health.
* Commit to working on an ethical, force-free basis – any use of aversive tools or methods will result in termination of the arrangement.
About the Role
This role is flexible, with opportunities for year-round bookings, though demand is especially high during holiday seasons. Whether you'd like more regular sits or only occasional bookings, we aim to match your availability with our clients' needs.
Pet sitting at Lead the Way Wirral is about more than simply keeping pets company – it's about ensuring their wellbeing, maintaining their routines, and giving guardians peace of mind.
Day-to-Day Tasks:
* Looking after pets in the comfort of their own homes while owners are away.
* Providing exercise, companionship, and enrichment suited to each dog's personality and needs.
* Following care instructions, including feeding schedules, medication, and training routines.
* Keeping the home safe, tidy, and secure during sits.
* Sending regular updates and photos to owners to keep them reassured and connected.
* Informing business and / or guardian quickly if there are any health or behaviour concerns.
