Position Overview: The Electronics Test Technician is responsible for testing, fault-finding, and verifying electronic assemblies and products to ensure they meet defined specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements. Working within a structured electronics manufacturing environment, the role involves performing electrical and functional testing, diagnosing failures, and supporting repair and rework activities. The Electronics Test Technician works closely with Production, Engineering, and Quality Assurance teams to resolve issues, support new product introduction, and ensure products are released for shipment with confidence. The role plays a critical part in maintaining product reliability, production efficiency, and on-time delivery while adhering to ESD, quality, and health and safety requirements. Key Responsibilities: Carry out electrical, functional, and in-circuit testing of RF and electronic assemblies and finished products in accordance with test specifications. Use standard electronic test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, power supplies, and signal generators. Analyse measurement results to identify and resolve signal distortions, interference, and compatibility issues. Diagnose and fault-find electronic failures down to component or circuit level during the assembly and testing phases. Record test results accurately in manufacturing, test, and quality control systems. Identify, document, and report test failures and non-conformities in line with quality procedures. Perform repair and rework activities following approved work instructions and engineering guidance. Interpret and follow schematics, test procedures, engineering drawings, and BOMs. Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, including prototype and pilot build testing. Work closely with Engineering, Production, and Quality Assurance teams to resolve test and product issues. Ensure test equipment is used correctly and report calibration or equipment issues. Maintain compliance with ESD control, quality standards, and health and safety requirements. Meet production test targets while maintaining high standards of accuracy and workmanship. Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying recurring faults or process issues. Maintain a clean, organised, and safe test area at all times. General Qualifications: Technical qualification in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Testing, or a related discipline (NVQ, BTEC, City & Guilds, HNC/HND, or equivalent). Previous experience in an electronics manufacturing, test, or repair environment. Strong understanding of electronics, RF, and microwave technologies. Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics, circuit diagrams, and technical documentation. Practical experience using electronic test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, power supplies, and signal generators. Experience carrying out electrical and functional testing of electronic assemblies or products. Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills down to component or circuit level. Understanding of electronics manufacturing processes, including PCB assembly and final product testing. Knowledge of ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) control and safe handling of sensitive electronic components. Familiarity with quality systems, test procedures, and documentation requirements. Excellent problem-solving skills, methodical and high level of attention to detail. Basic computer skills for recording test results and production data. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Good communication skills for liaising with all areas of the business.
