An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in the Walsall Healthcare Trust's imaging service. You will be responsible for managing and delivering Nuclear Medicine services, leading the Nuclear Medicine Team to ensure high standards of quality, safety, and access. You will provide regular feedback to the Radiology Service Manager based on key performance indicators. The role involves performing nuclear medicine procedures as an advanced practitioner or working towards qualification, promoting Trust values, adhering to policies, and line managing an allocated team with a focus on their development and engagement. The post holder must be capable of operating independently when deputising for the Radiology Services Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage the provision of high-quality and timely Nuclear Medicine services for accurate diagnosis and treatment.
2. Ensure delivery of services in line with current protocols, guidelines, and practices.
3. Perform and report on nuclear medicine procedures as an advanced practitioner or while working towards qualification.
4. Assist in service modelling considering local pressures, demand, capacity, and workforce funding.
5. Monitor waiting times proactively within the Nuclear Medicine modality.
6. Plan, organise, and manage daily workload and staff to ensure comprehensive service delivery.
7. Act as the focal point for clinical, safety, technical, and service issues within the modality.
8. Participate in staff recruitment, ensure annual appraisals, and develop staff roles.
9. Contribute to equipment selection and manage budgets effectively, including signing off on financial decisions.
10. Lead innovations in Nuclear Medicine services and develop business cases for service development.
About Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust:
The Trust is the only provider of NHS acute care in Walsall, serving a population of 284,300. It offers inpatient and outpatient services at Manor Hospital and various community services. The hospital has state-of-the-art facilities, including a Critical Care Unit, Neonatal Unit, Obstetric Theatre, and an Integrated Assessment Unit. A new Urgent and Emergency Care Centre opened in March 2023, significantly enhancing emergency care capacity.
Additional Responsibilities:
1. Perform Nuclear Medicine examinations.
2. Use analytical skills to interpret radiographs, differentiating normal from abnormal findings and taking appropriate actions.
3. Operate Radiology Information System and PACS systems competently.
4. Maintain patient dignity and confidentiality during examinations.
5. Communicate effectively with patients and team members.
6. Ensure radiation protection for self, patients, and others in accordance with IR(ME)R 2017 and IRR 2017.
7. Implement radiographic protocols to meet service needs.
8. Use manual handling aids safely for patient and staff safety.
9. Participate in advanced practice within a weekly rota.
10. Supervise students and trainees, ensuring safety and regulations are observed.
11. Review radiographic referral appropriateness and priority.
12. Develop good relationships with multidisciplinary teams.
